Library Membership

Registered students do not need to complete a library membership application form.

If you are not registered for a particular course of study within the University in the current academic year, you can avail of the different types of library membership listed below. However, please note that priority access will be given to current MTU students during busy periods.

 

MTU Alumni Membership

All alumni who have studied at CIT/MTU can benefit from a range of exclusive services, including free access to MTU's Library and other facilities, regular email newsletters and career support.

-  Please note that Alumni Membership offers Reference Only access to Crawford College of Art and Design Library.

 - Due to licensing/copyright restrictions Alumni Membership does not allow access to Online library databases/electronic resources.

- Alumni Membership does not allow access to Wi-Fi within the library.

- Alumni borrowing privileges can be viewed here.

- Alumni members that wish to renew borrowed books can do so by e-mailing library.infocork@mtu.ie

MTU Guest Membership

- Individuals who are not members of MTU Library may be eligible for 12-month Guest membership (Please note that we do not offer guest membership to undergraduates from other Universities & Colleges).

- Guest membership is available if approved by MTU Librarians for genuine academic/scholarly research and the payment of the appropriate fee which allows access to MTU libraries and borrowing of up to 2 items from the General Lending collection for 2 weeks.     

- Guest membership does not allow access to online library databases/electronic resources.  

- Guest membership does not provide access to MTU computers or WiFi. 

- Guest membership allows Reference Only access to the Crawford College of Art and Design Library and Cork School of Music Fleischmann Library. 

- The MTU Guest Membership fee for one academic year is €30.

Staff ID Cards

- MTU Staff members that require an ID Card should contact the ID Card Office, alternatively they can contact the Human Resources Department.

 

Retired Staff:

- All retired staff that have worked in MTU/CIT can access the library and borrow 5 books for one month.

- To avail of this service, please talk to library staff at the issue desk and ask for your library account to be updated accordingly.

- Unfortunately due to copyright & licensing restrictions, retired staff members cannot access online library databases/electronic resources.
